God Loves

A few days ago a man in Portland killed his wife and then killed himself and it was so sad. I wonder what happened to each of them as their life left them and they floated up to meet God? It would be easy to say the wife went to heaven and the husband went in another direction but we don\’t really know that. Our feelings of justice would certainly attribute someone filled with such hate to have to pay up in eternity but the reality is that it is way out of our judgement zone.

I am not about to excuse the husband – I\’m just saying I don\’t know. Not a clue except that God loves and loves and loves. That\’s all I know.

And if we don\’t know how God would judge a murderer how do we know how God would judge each of us?

The other day I was praying night prayer and the prayer that I had prayed such a million times before struck me in a very negative way. It said something to the effect of asking God to forgive our grievous sin. And it just hit me wrong. Like that was a bit over the top. What did I do that day that was so grievous?

Really? Of course I am sure I wasn\’t a saint all day but didn\’t feel like I did anything so grievously wrong either. One can argue that any sin against God is grievous but I don\’t think over stating sin does anyone any good. Personally I am more in favor of just asking God to forgive me and forget the rating scale on whatever I did.

Guess I am being to crazy with this. Oh well, just how it struck me.
