One way to happiness

Epictetus

My Excuse

I have been working on my memoir every morning and once I put in two to three hours of writing on that I seem to have used up my creativity for the day, this is my explanation of why I haven\’t been posting more regularly . . .

And of course it is summer and there are things to do in the garden and books I have to read and other things to be lazily industrious about. Yesterday I listened to a webinar about book promotion and Pinterest and decided that I would try my hand at that. Not so much my own books for now but into writing small, book reviews about books I read and then create Pins for them.

In the webinar it showed that one could do this as an Amazon affiliate marketer to build an audience and hopefully make some sales. I am testing it. I would like to see if I can make a bit to help support this site and future book production. At any rate I will not be emailing the book reviews because I don\’t know that folks would be interested in them – but I will be posting them on the site and will probably link to them with a simple text link from posts in case anyone is.

Here is the first one I did yesterday. Sink Trap by Christy Evans. Truthfully it\’s a very simple review and I probably need to work on that – but it\’s a start. I was able to find this book at the library and hopefully you can as well though the author is from Oregon so maybe they gave a special purchase for that.

The latest book I am reading is a 600 pager by Elizabeth George. I have heard about this author for years but never took the leap. Now I\’m finding it hard to do anything but read. Have you read her books?

Summer Cooking

I like to try new recipes and the latest was a white bread recipe using condensed milk. I had never heard of that before and I was intrigued. Surprisingly it turned out as good as the recipe stated. Love when that happens. Jon thought it was a bit too sweet but me I like sweet! Anyway I will try it with evaporated milk sometime and see if I can get the same results but not so sweet.

I do believe this was the best looking bread I\’ve made yet! I used my bread machine to make the dough then formed it and let it rise in the microwave (not powered) with two cups of hot water for steamy heat.

Bread making has been a challenge for me so I have been researching tips and tricks for weeks to figure out what works for me. I collected the ones that worked for me and when I put them all together. Viola! In time I will post these tips on the site but we all know how time flies . . . so I\’m including my simple Word document below for anyone interested.

  1. Happy Birthday, Patty! Funny, how 64 seems so young now that I am in my late 80’s — just as 21 seemed old to you when you were so much younger. Perspective changes with time.

Do hope this was a very special day for you. What exciting things did you do? Enjoy the present, for in the snap of a finger, all the things that make life so very special can be taken away. Hope you are enjoying all those goodies that comes with a birthday.

Sending prayers and hugs your way!

    1. Thanks June! Happy Birthday early – and I will remember you on your birthday in 4 days as I write this. Balloons – cake and happiness by the bucketload.

  2. The bread looks delicious. I think several hours a day working on your memoir is great.
Extremely hot in our area. Computer was acting up for a day or two, all resolved now.
    Grateful for:
    Air conditioning
