The best memoir books apparently are those in which you can relate to the author. I found a wonderful book called, Scary Close by Donald William that hits those points in a humorous but insightful way. It is about his struggle to become real in order to have a successful relationship with his soon to be wife. Only a little way into the book but loving it so far.

For the last few days I have been working on my book, gardening, cooking and just having simple, nice to be home days. We celebrated the 4th of July with our first barbecue (veggie burgers) and a salad. No guests but lots of fireworks on all sides of which Andre was not at all happy about. He has taken to sleeping on a bed in the basement until people get over this!

Gratitude Moments

If you would like please add \”your\” three gratitude moments in the comments. It\’s a great way to pick up your day and it\’s fun for the rest of us to read!

1. Grateful for a free two week trial of a writing guild. It is called the Jerry Jenkins Writing Guild – the monthly cost is $45 which is too steep for me but I am learning a lot while I can. He is the author of the \”Left Behind\” series which I have not read nor have any desire too but his tutorials are amazing. I may buy in for a month or two at some point.
2. Vegetable growing is at an all time high this year. Zucchini is going crazy along with lettuce. Green beans will be forming soon and tomatoes are super yummy sweet.
3. Taking Andre and Pudge to get their nails clipped. The new normal apparently is to stay in the car and call in from the parking area. Someone will come out and get a dog for clipping. We wear masks but they didn\’t say anything about the boys so I think we will let that be. LOL
