Tiny ripples

The biggest thing that stops me from doing things is thinking I have to do BIG things. But very small actions over time can be as effective as something huge.

Sometimes we will get a heavy rain that wets everything it touches with big splotches of water. It pelts delicate flowers and plants, bruising and sometimes breaking their leaves. Puddles quickly form and anyone walking is soon drenched. It comes quickly and as quickly goes.

Other times we get gentle rains. Almost mist like. This kind of rain can last all day. The day is cloudy and truthfully rather gloomy but the gentle rain is much more effective. The plants are not damaged but seem to stand straighter and it\’s almost as if they are raising their leaves like hands to welcome each misty droplet.

For me and perhaps most of us this is what we are called to do. Steady, small witnesses of goodness, hope and kindness. We won\’t make the news at eleven but our actions even if they only affect one person make a difference.

Amy Porterfield

As I continue with my 30 days of reaching out to Podcast and radio shows I find that there are some wonderful ones to listen to! This one by Amy Porterfield seemed to be just what I needed to give me a shove forward.

It\’s about taking action.

Right now.

Not when all the stars are aligned and the \”All Clear to Go\” sign mystically appears on your front yard and flashes the message to proceed.

It\’s 26 minutes long but worth a listen if you find yourself stuck in the never, never land of procrastination. It works for anything!

Please add your three gratitude moments in the comments. It\’s a great way to pick up your day and it\’s fun for the rest of us to read!

  1. Reading a wonderful book. I didn\’t think it would be but it is! New author for me but I will definitely be reading everything else she writes. Girl Waits With Gun by Amy Stewart. I guess it\’s even a movie. Hmmm. Will have to look for that.
  2. Made oatmeal cookies. Thanks Joan for telling me to just do it!
  3. Nice day with the clouds clearing around noon and leaving us with blue sky and sunshine.

    1) I am very thankful that my medical news was good today (despite the pain involved), rather than very bad as I had feared.
    2) My favorite niece surprised me by coming to the hospital while I was in ER for testing.
    3) I will now be able to attend the wedding and dinner of a great niece who is being married tomorrow evening. Thank you, Jesus!
