“Do what you feel in your heart to be right,
for you\’ll be criticized anyway.
You\’ll be dammed if you do
and dammed if you don\’t.

Eleanor Roosevelt

Dammed if you don\’t

Well I am not sure why this famous quote of Eleanor Roosevelt makes me smile but it could be because I remember my mom saying it every now and then. And though there is a bit of a swear in the statement – it almost needs it to emphasize the point. For me it cuts through some of the clutter of decision making, the going back and forth, should I or shouldn\’t I merry-go-round I often fall into as a people pleaser.

One thing I have been debating on is whether I should promote the books I did in the Monastery even though I am not in the monastery now. I finally decided I will – I did the books and though the Monastery played a HUGE part in that happening it was just as HUGE a part of me doing them as well. So I am now listing the books here on my site and sharing nine stories from each book. Some of the books that were not as popular as others actually have some of the most amazing stories of all in them. For instance this one on reconciliation is totally one of my favorites, What Are You Doing Here?

Interviews for Book

One thing I have decided in doing this book that will be different from the way I have done them in the past is that I want to interview people to get their stories rather than just accept pre-written stories. Anyone is welcome to write and share their story but I want to follow even those up with a phone call so that I make sure I have details and remembrances that sometimes come out better in talking and also that I can make the stories long enough to be at least 500 words. 🙂

So far I have two stories. One is my own and the second one Jon told me about yesterday. My hope is to do at least one story a day which is very doable. I would love to include as many of the folks who follow this blog in the book, so please think and pray about it!

All it requires is thinking of someone or something that encouraged you to make a change in your life for the better, do something you didn\’t think you could do or go some place that you were fearful of. Then connect with me to set up a phone call. It will be fun! Of course I will share the edited version of the story with you before it goes to print and we can add and tweak if you think of more to tell after the first call.

You can email me at patty@pattygrasher.com or call or text me at (360) 949-0929. If you call please know that I don\’t always respond to numbers I don\’t recognize but if you leave a short message I will call you back.

The Lord is my strength and my song,
and he has become my salvation;
this is my God, and I will praise him,
my father\’s God, and I will exalt him.\”
Exodus 15:2

The Countdown is on!

So I started yesterday on the book and I figure I now have 132 days to collect stories, edit them, do layout and publish! Perhaps this is my new normal for the next few months. 🙂

Please add \”your\” three gratitude moments in the comments. It\’s a great way to pick up your day and it\’s fun for the rest of us to read!

  1. Nice phone call this morning with my sister, Barb.
  2. Love that working on the book is helping me to feel I am accomplishing something!
  3. More rain so I don\’t need to water the garden. Lazy me. 🙂

The second puzzle looks like fun – I haven\’t played it yet but I think I may change the puzzle shape as well as the count. Not sure – but those are options! AND the second puzzle I will definitely play as I love pigs. 😉
