Happy and Blessed New Year 2014!

Today was a good day. I went to work at Oakville because I was behind in a lot of things and it seemed as good a way as any to start the New Year. I was actually able to get everything caught up so that felt good.

I have added a new category of eCards today. Cats & Kittens.

I found a new book to read on my Kindle. I like to download books from the local library and while I was searching  for something with a bit of Catholic to it – I decided to search using just the word \”Catholic.\” I didn\’t expect to find any books but surprisingly I did. I am now reading a book called, In Due Season: A Catholic Life by Paul Wilkes. So far it is very good and I am loving it. I\’m only on chapter 4 but I expect I will like it all the way through.

Pudge wants his evening snack but I am making him wait 15 more minutes. I told him when he wanted to eat at 4:00 that he was going to want his night snack earlier! I told him and I was right. I\’m holding out for 12 more minutes.

I am also reading a children\’s book called, The Book of Story Beginnings by Kristin Kladstrup.  Just a fun book. I like to read different kinds of books at the same time.

And if you really want to know, I am also reading, What the Plus! by Guy Kawasaki – which is about Google+. I am praying about taking an online Google+ boot camp course. I think, I hope, I pray it will be good.

AND HERE\’S A QUESTION FOR YOU! I am wondering if any of you would like to get together for a retreat week at the Oregon shore sometime in the summer?

The theme would be of course, Joy in Jesus – living a life of praise, trust and hope. What comes to mind is that depending on how many (if any) are interested – I would rent a beach house and we would have a fun week of faith sharing, life sharing and listening to God and each other and just enjoy the ocean, read and rest. This is just a crazy thought that comes to mind. It would be a sort of co-op faith week. Split expenses so we could keep it low cost. If enough people were interested maybe I could even ask a priest friend I know to give some retreat talks.

And of course it doesn\’t have to be in Oregon. We could do this anywhere in the country. Wouldn\’t it be fun to get together? Maybe every year in a different place? Anyway this is all middle of the winter thinking of what do in the Spring or Summer thinking. Let me know if you have any thoughts.

  1. Gosh, sounds like a wonderful idea a retreat, not sure if I can pull it off or not with family commitments I have, maybe a webinar type retreat might work also, a thought. Sounds delightful.
    I looked up the books you are reading, very interesting. The book for the children might be good for one of my grandkids, the Catholic book looks very good.
    So glad you had a good day an d were able to get caught up a the church with work. It is a good feeling to be on top of things or slightly ahead.
    Hope Pudge enjoyed his snack. 🙂

    1. Yes – doing webinar retreat is a good idea. I am learning how to do Google hangouts – so maybe some of us can do it that way. but maybe some west coast folks can do it at the beach. Is fun to be in person.

      I think Oakville is going to have a women’s retreat in Feb or Mar and I will try to go to that.

    1. Would be totally fun! The thing about an Oregon beach week though is the water is too cold to go swimming in – but I love being at the beach anyway. And there are usually lot of sea lions and things to see.

      One place where my family has gone a couple of times has a whole sea lion colony with babies and they are fun to see.

  3. The retreat sounds great, let me know if you are in the south anytime. We do a weekend retreat with the ladies bible study .We rent 2 cabins in a state park which are nice and not expensive, we take turns doing the meals. One cabin for eating and one for praying and sharing. 6 to 10 ladies works out great.We don’t have any formal talks we just pray and share whatever we need to share we also read , knit & hike.     1. That’s sounds like a wonderful way to do it. Just sharing and growing together is the best.

      Maybe get a book or something to follow to give us a little guide line – or make it up with each person having a session to lead. Have done it that way with 12 step retreats and that works too.

    I would love to meet you and stay with you and with others who correspond with you.
    Unfortunately, I live on the EastCoast and would be unable to go out to the West Coast. I do love your notes and puzzles. I feel like I already know you. I don’t know how to go to face book or any of the other places that are at the top of the page. As long as I can keep up with like this I am happy.

  6. Sounds like an awesome retreat I do one as many times as I am able. But how about a web retreat a skype type format so we can all participate in them from all over USA with those who belong to this blog.
