Good Mood Struggles

This quote caught my fancy today because I have been struggling to BE in a good mood.

It\’s usually something that needs to be fixed physically such as food, more water or more sleep. And of course less sugar! I am just way too fond of sugar.

If I don\’t take care of myself physically than all the \”positive thinking, imagining and other positive mental tricks\” do not seem to make much of an impression.

Not a bit.

But once I take inventory of where my good mood indicators need to be adjusted than I can work on the heart fix.

The Heart Fix

Things like reading a good book, listening to something inspirational or motivational or playing a puzzle or game are helpful.

Lot\’s of times it\’s something very simple. Taking a walk. Talking to a friend. Relaxing.

The thing is, I think that good moods are usually the result of things that happen within. Working on a new project is a great up lifter in the beginning but then the day by day commitment of making it happen can become pressure building.

Think Small

In those cases for me that is when I need to think small.

Small steps every day are manageable.

Small steps are better than big steps once a week.

I learned that the most solidly from my piano teacher. She would much rather I practiced 15 minutes every single day than one or two hours before class.

Day by day growth builds stronger and more reliable change.

Like a plant that needs a quiet rain and not a flood.

$\"sunshine\"$ Today\’s Three Sunshine (Gratitude) Moments:

1. Went with Jon to help his son and wife put in a new double door. They did it! Seemed like way too big a project to do but guess that\’s because I\’m not much of a carpenter.
2. Another day of sunshine. Very cold wind though.
3. Time to go read my book.
