Inspirational Quote of the Day on Worry

Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow,
it empties today of its strength.

Let’s share favorite authors

Jon and I both like books by Michael Connelly and we are getting close to having read them all. I just found this list from New Westminister Public Library that shares 26 authors that says . . .

If you like Michael Connelly, you might also like….

Has anyone read any of these authors and do you like them? We have tried the ones in bold though some of them I can’t remember if I liked them or not? Need to make notes on the books I read!

Truthfully I had no idea there are so many detective authors like thousands! Maybe this is my new calling – read – read – read.

Women Detective Books

Here are some books I like that Jon probably wouldn’t even try – you know the books where the woman is the main detective with maybe a cat and a cup of tea?

Alexander McCall Smith of the Number 1 Ladies Detective Agency comes to mind and who else? I found a long list of books featuring women detectives on Murder Mayhem but they don’t list some of the biggest like J. A. Jance and Janet Evanovich so makes me wonder? But what I did love about their site is that they have a synopsis of each author which is very nice.

I started with their list of 30 and kept going and at this point there are 46 authors who feature women detectives at least in one of their books. Please send me your favorites that I didn’t catch or if you have read any of these authors (most of them I haven’t as 28 years in a monastery limited my mystery reading) but I’m going to start on this list and check them out!

Cozy Mysteries – Oh my!

So in making quick visits of each of these author websites I ran into this website – Cozy Mysteries that has an extensive list of nice mystery stories without a lot of gory details, getting into fights and being tortured to tell all. Enough cozy reading here for several lifetimes. Riches!

Gratitude Moments

If you would like please add “your” three gratitude moments in the comments. It’s a great way to pick up your day and it’s fun for the rest of us to read!

  1. Nice call with Teri (friend on this blog) – very fun. You know we should call and talk to each other sometimes – no agenda – just have a chat. Maybe I will work on that.
  2. Jon has been doing tons of yard work – so we took another ride in the truck to the Yard Recyling place to dump a big load of branches. Rather fun to get out even just for something like that!
  3. Made soup yesterday and put in way too much pepper. This morning its back on the heat with two cut up potatoes to smooth it out. Hoping it’s going to work. I put in a LOT of pepper.

I have to really look at the list. I do like Nora Roberts and she has some trilogies that are really good.
I love to read and always have at least 3 books going at once. I have been reading Paul by N.T. Wright his books obviously religious really provide a lot to think about.
