\"ASaturday morning we took a small day trip to Multnomah Falls in Oregon. From Vancouver its about 45 miles and even on this Fourth of July weekend it took us less than an hour to get there. Here is a page of directions on how to get there.
The falls are six hundred and twenty feet in height so makes for quite a splash! I tried to take some video with my phone but it didn\’t come out very well. I am including a professional YouTube video that gives you a better experience. [2:24]

\"FourThe water is crystal clear. We didn\’t see any fish but I read elsewhere that there are trout. We saw four ducks just floating happily along which added a bit of interest to our walk up to the entrance.
\"PavedThe climb to the top is a mile but as you can see it gets pretty steep. The good thing is that it is all paved so easy to walk.
\"MultnomahWe stopped for pictures at this indent in the rock. Looks like a cave but really only goes in a few feet.
You can walk it in stages and go just as far as your heart and energy  take you. Today we just went a bit past the bridge. Even so there were still some pretty spectacular views.

Dogs are allowed on the path as long as they are leashed. I think they enjoyed it as much as the people did. Didn\’t take any pictures of the dogs but they all climbed with great enthusiasm. From the smallest miniature poodle to a Great Dane.
After your walk (or before) you can stop at the very large Gift Shop. Very touristy but I didn\’t mind. Nice. I do prefer things to be locally made in a gift shop but didn\’t let that stop me from letting us make a few purchases anyway. Something to remember the event by and a way to support the attraction.

You can also have a meal in the restaurant. We haven\’t eaten a meal there yet but made plans to do that another day. They are open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day, with separate menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A bit on the spendy side. A cup of coffee costs $3.00 for instance but you don\’t eat there I\’m guessing unless you want a special eating experience so figure that in.
Multnomah Falls makes a beautiful resting spot if you are driving further along but for us – it was nice to go there for a day trip.
Here are a few links to more information you might enjoy.
A better way to tour Multnomah  – this is a great article published by the Oregonian that outlines a great 4.9 mile hike around the Falls.
