Kindness makes a marriage

I read a nice chapter today in a book of collected writings about kindness that a study was done on what makes a lasting marriage and the underpinning element was \”Kindness.\”

On that score I think Jon and I will have a lasting marriage as he is a very kind and thoughtful person and I \”try,\” to be as well. Isn\’t it grand, you think of all the big, important things you should do and turns out just being kind is more important than almost everything else.

I especially like this quote in the book, \”The Way of Kindness,\” a collection of thoughts and essays on kindness by Michael Leach.

It\’s a bit embarrassing to have been concerned with human problems all one\’s life and find at the end that one has no more to offer by way of advice than \”try to be a little kinder.\”

Today I was very kind to myself by getting a new pet gate for my office. I had been using all sorts of blockade stuff to prevent Pudge from coming into my office and eating the cat food. I was afraid at some moment I was going to forget it was there and trip over it all and fall face first into my office and end up with a flattened face at the very least.

Sometimes one has to be kind to oneself.

I will say eating the number of cookies I have been lately may not fall into that category. Though at the time munching on a cookie does seem like a very kind thing to do.

    Did a Face Time lunch with a friend, we talked and ate our lunches while we Face Timed.

    1. I like British TV too – though we haven’t watch too much of it lately. Wonder if we would get those channels here?

      1. The channels are through WETA and Public Television. Check and see what is offered in your state.
