Kindness in Words creates Confidence”

Kindness in Words

I have decided my Mission for the Month is to be kind. In words, thoughts, prayers, reflections and most of all for people who most need it but are the hardest to give it to.

If you look at the puzzles below the third one may be a little hard to see but it is of a man in India carrying a basket full of kittens across flooded waters. I like that.

It is ten minutes to nine and I am waiting for one more hour for my first cup of coffee. I\’m still following the article I read to wait till later when the body is winding down before zipping it up. Otherwise it said one can find one getting anxious and depressed later in the day and for me that is absolutely true. But still . . . I can\’t wait for that coffee!

Reading Psycho Cybnernetics by Maxwell Maltz

A book I just spent a month reading and has been very helpful for me is the book, Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz. It is an old book which was published in 1960 but periodically gets revised. Not sure when I first read it but I think it was before I entered the monastery so in the 70\’s I would guess. Anyway I am giving it credit for feeling more positive, staying more focused and loving life a bit better.

Robert Middleton wrote an article about it a while ago and suggested a reread of the book. It took me about six weeks to get it on OverDrive ( digital library download) but I got it the beginning of January and read and reread it every day until it was time to return it. Basically my take on the book is about using your imagination to focus your thoughts on good things and let God guide and help you to unfold the steps to get there.

Funny back in the 60\’s self help books mentioned God more than they do now I think. Anyway for me it has been good. I found a free download of the book here but it is rather hard to read.

From Chapter One of Psycho Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz
\"To really live, that is to find life reasonably satisfying, you must have an adequate and realistic self-image that you can live with. You must find your self acceptable to you. You must have a wholesome self-esteem. You must have a self that you can trust and believe in. You must have a self that you are not ashamed to be, and one that you can feel free to express creatively, rather than hide or cover up. You must know yourself — both your strengths and your weaknesses — and be honest with yourself concerning both. Your self-image must be a reasonable approximation of “you,” being neither more nor less than you are.\"

  1. Love the puzzle with the man carrying the kittens across the water. Happy to hear you are enjoying the book you are reading and feeling positive. Just got home from a high school basketball game. They lost, but it was a good game. Two weeks ago one of our grands, she broke her foot playing bball at a varsity game. She is in a boot and on crutches and sits with her team. She is doing well. We have a new great grandson, Carter James, and he is gorgeous. I have 3 children, 6 grandkids and 5 great grandkids . Life is nice.
    Grateful for my family
    Grateful for good friends
Grateful for a good man in my life also
Many things to be grateful for.
    God bless you Pat.
