Try to be a rainbow

I have never read a complete book of Maya\’s poems but the bits and pieces I have read I have liked. This one seems especially nice.

When I think about it there have been many people who have been rainbow makers for me. Starting with my parents of course, my brothers and sisters (though sometimes I think they have been thunder and lightening but that was as a kid – so will move on LOL) and most especially the wonderful friends who have followed me for so many years.

The thing about rainbows is that unless you look for them they can be easily overlooked. Storms have lots of dramatic sound and fury but rainbows just appear silently in the sky.

I guess that would mean if I attempt to be a rainbow for someone I should go about doing it quietly.

Gosh, what fun is that?

No announcing it on the six o\’clock news I guess.

Taking another scary, exciting risk

Yesterday, I had the chance to listen to a free video about podcasting. I thought it would be kind of fun to listen to and perhaps something to think about doing in the future.

But the more I listened to it the more excited I got about it. The talk was about being a guest on other people\’s podcast shows. As many of you know I did radio when I was in the Monastery and really liked it. Understatement.

It has been one of the things that I have missed a lot.

At the end of the show I decided to follow it up with a next step and purchased for a very low price a directory of possible podcasts to be on. With that offer came the opportunity to have a free 15 minute consultation call. (This follows yesterday\’s blog about gifting quite appropriately!)

This morning I had the call . . .

And I admit it, before you, before God, before the world. I got hooked.

I am now signed up for a program that will jump-start me into becoming a podcast interviewee. Kathleen Gage will help me with creating all the material to be ready for seeking podcast opportunities as well as a guarantee to get on five targeted shows.

And this has got me to rethinking about pulling my memoir that I was working on several years ago out of the drawer and get it published. I know it needs a lot of work but I did get 14 chapters written (about 40,000 words) and I think if I added another chapter or two it would be ready for editing.

So not sure if I am going to be doing that but it\’s a thought. If I get on some podcasts I would like to have something that would encourage people to connect further with me. . .

  1. Patricia, may I make a suggestion? Instead of the memoir, why not do a collection of your best “Sunshine Thoughts” entries. Many are outstanding–and could be perhaps more work having to obtain the permission of the quotes you use to headline them–but I just feel this would be much more uplifting and connecting you to your present day reading public than your memoir may be. Can’t think of the subject area at the moment–but know there is a special section in bookstores where collections of such books are on exhibit, and I always notice that is one of the most crowded area in bookstores. (Why would I notice that? — I am a retired librarian.)
    Your long time Blog follower,
    LaVern West

    1. Hi LaVern,

Probably true. Though at this point I don’t have much of an audience. LOL only about 36 faithful friends (like you) who have stuck with me through thick and thin!

Though truthfully I am getting a bit too scattered with everything now – so better put the book(s) on hold. My thought was that I had so much of it done that it would be easy to finish – but that is probably fooling myself.

Hard for me to think that my Sunshine Thoughts are valuable enough to go into a book.

  2. I am so excited for you Patrica about Podcast and your Memoirs. The Podcast will be fun. I like LaVern’s suggestion of your Sunshine Moments also.
    Grateful :
    -Delicious lunch

    -Good health

  3. Pat, your wheels are always turning. You’re Fun Fresh Fascinating and Faithful. Keep up the great work. Enjoy the podcast and have fun!!

PS .. What did I miss? What happend to 3efun?

From another of your blog following faithful friends

    1. Hi Charlotte! – 3efun is still happening. Just took a back seat as I have to redesign AdventureWords for the puzzle books first. Then I will redo 3efun and add the games.

Today’s challenge is to take a new photo shot for a media release for podcasting. This is not a fun thing as somehow in the nebulous corner of my mind I think I look different than I do. Such a shock to find how off I am. Oh well – we are who we are! 🙂

    1. Sandy – that would be awesome thanks! I will look to see what I can post to my Pinterest page as well. 🙂

And a little added note. The more friends who post inspiration the better! Do it daily if you want.
