One Step Back

I have decided that it is not the right time to work on my memoir. This will be my second delay but I have decided I would rather work on a book that will be a foundation for business growth.

The memoir will get done just not on the time line I was giving for it.

Forward into growth

Since starting my six month program with John Eggen at Mission Marketing Mentors I am looking at things in terms of long term growth rather than hop hopping from one thing to another.

So I wrote a ten year plan, a three year plan and now working on a 90 day plan.

I have decided to “pivot” my business from creating Word Search puzzle books to publishing Anthology collections of stories – like I did with the 101 Inspiration books.

This is something that I feel has more market value and something I am the most experienced and confident in doing. I have successfully done six of these books, five in the monastery and one for St. Mary’s Church in Albany, Oregon.

I am still in the process of mapping out what my first book will be but it will probably be more business centered than spiritual. At least for this first one.

I meet with my book coach tomorrow and hopefully get solidified on the direction to go. Have some ideas but they might drastically change after talking with Christy so will let you know.

Family Time at Hood River

On a lighter note our family reunion at Hood River was super wonderful. We had the most spectacular view of Mount Hood from the deck, lots of food (lots and lots and lots of it) and lots of fun. I had time to read my book, share in conversations and cheer on the game players at the Boccie court.

One of the hidden benefits that I didn’t even realize was there until Jon mentioned it. It was so quiet. No sounds of traffic, people or industry. Even the planes that went overhead were so high up we didn’t hear them. I had literally forgotten how beautiful, restful and healing to be in a space without civilization noises.

Well there were a few kid noises (part of our pack) that were super into their video games and rocked the walls with their laughter and fun but that had to be discounted. I was glad they were having a good time and getting to know their cousins better in a happy way. Those kind of growing up memories are life long enriching.

Please add “your” three gratitude moments in the comments. It’s a great way to pick up your day and it’s fun for the rest of us to read!

  1. Excitedly moving ahead with creating an Anthology book business.
  2. Nice to be home again.
  3. We got a new garage door! Amazing how different it makes the house look. The old one was over twenty years old so was feeling its age.

  1. Hi,
Glad all is well, did not hear from you. The family time away sounds great and the picture is gorgeous. Oscar is so cute.
I think the direction you are going with your business is a good idea. We all have to find the area we are interested in exploring and researching and have a passion for. You have a creative mind, this direction sounds like a plan.
We are still grieving our little Henry, our beagle, it was a month yesterday. Sigh.

    Grateful for :

The time we had with Henry
    Sunny sky
    Peace of mind

  2. Hi, Patty – I understand about the memoir and putting business first, but maybe you could do a blog about your love story with Jon. I know we would all love to hear that as we have followed your adventures for so many years. It also makes me happy to hear/read happy endings in following our paths, and you have had quite a journey in life. Just a suggestion. 🙂 Jeanne Volk
